A Change at Green Star Farm

Green Star Farm began with eggs and pastured chicken. For many years our hens were the heart of the farm, and the CSEgg program has been a part of our work since 2008. Raising laying hens on pasture taught us a tremendous amount about animal husbandry, land stewardship, and what it means to feed our community.

After much thought and discussion, we have decided it is time to simplify our operation.

Farming is always a balance between the needs of the land, the animals, and the people doing the work. At this stage of life it has become clear that focusing our energy on fewer enterprises will allow us to care better for the farm and for our family.

Effective March 14, 2026, Green Star Farm will no longer be raising pastured eggs.

This was not an easy decision. Our hens and egg customers have been a part of the farm for nearly two decades, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who supported the CSEgg program over the years.

In addition, we will be concluding our pastured meat chicken program after August 29, 2026.

While this change comes with a lot of nostalgia, it also brings a sense of relief and clarity about the future of the farm.

Going forward, Green Star Farm will continue focusing on:

• Pasture-raised pork
• Grass-fed lamb
• Pasture-raised goat
