LIVESTOCK GUARDIAN DOGS

Predator Friendly Farming

To encourage a predator friendly farming environment, we utilize livestock guardian dogs to protect our livestock and ranch. Our dogs are raised on site from farmer Sarah. She has 20 plus years experience in animal handling and dog training. Our dogs main purpose is to deter predators instead of trapping or killing wildlife.

Our dogs are a mix of Akbash, Maremma, and Great Pyrenees. We focus on raising dogs with lines that are both good at guarding and tolerate poultry. Once per year we have a litter of puppies that are started on the farm with all livestock and ready for their new homes at 12 weeks of age.

We do raise 2-3 adult dogs per year, there is a waiting list for all dogs born and raised at Green Star Farm. If you are interested in learning more, please reach out. Sarah also offers consulting for working with current dogs and to prepare farmers and ranchers to own a livestock guardian dog.
